More Football Freshmen Cleared For Summer

Ten more February-signed freshmen have joined the roster of new Bulldogs on campus for summer school at Mississippi State. According to assistant compliance director Steve Smith these rookies have received their certifications from the NCAA's clearninghouse in time to enroll for the July semester which began today.

These newest arrivals at Mississippi State are: DB Jonathan Banks, RB Montrell Conner, WR Brandon Heavens, Ol Gabriel Jackson, RB LaDarius Perkins, FB William Shumpert, LB Deonte Skinner, WR Chris Smith, DB Dennis Thames, and DB Nikoe Whitley.

Those ten joined five classmates--DL Josh Boyd, WR Chad Bumphis, DL Fletcher Cox, TE Johnathan McKenzie, and QB Tyler Russell--who were enrolled for the June semester and spent the last four weeks working out with the varsity.

One February signee has yet to be cleared, WR Ricco Sanders. Also, signees WR Marderecas Hood and RB Darius Slay have enrolled in junior college already.

One signee, WR Billy Hamilton, was drafted in the second round of the June Major League Baseball draft by the Cincinnati Reds and has since signed with them for over $620,000.
