STARKVILLE - Mississippi State officials in the Bulldog Club and ticket office announced this afternoon that representatives will be selling season tickets at the Central Mississippi Alumni Association "Summer Extravaganza" on Thursday evening in Jackson.

"This is the first time that we'll be in a position to take an order, process it on the spot and assign seats to anyone looking to buy season tickets," said John King, assistant athletic director for ticket operations.

Mississippi State president Dr. Mark Keenum, director of athletics Greg Byrne and other representatives of the university will participate at the event, which will be held at the Jackson Convention Complex. Doors open at 5:30 and a program featuring Keenum, Byrne, head football coach Dan Mullen and other speakers will begin at 7 p.m.

Admission for the Summer Extravaganza is $10 for adults and free for children and students.

The ticket office also announced on Wednesday it has sold out of east side upper level discounted season football ticket packages. A very limited number of general public lower deck east side season tickets are available in Sections V and W, and in upper level west side Sections 305 through 309.

Limited donor seating is still available in east side Sections Q, T and U, as well as west stand Sections B, F, and G. Those tickets require membership in the Bulldog Club.

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The United States Women's National Softball Team, including Mississippi State's Chelsea Bramlett and Jay Miller, opens defense of its World Cup of Softball title beginning Thursday evening in Oklahoma City.

Team USA's opening five games will be broadcast live on ESPN to 146 countries around the world. The July 20 championship-round game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. CDT. All seven U.S. games will also be carried on

Miller's squad aims to keep its unbeaten streak intact when it begins play against the Netherlands at 7 p.m. CDT on ESPN. The team opened its summer slate last week, capturing the Canada Cup championship with a come-from-behind, 3-2 win over the host country.

Bramlett, a three-time NFCA First Team All-American for the Bulldogs, hit a team-leading .636 with an RBI, six runs scored and two stolen bases in the Canada Cup.

Following a Friday night meeting with Italy, the Red, White and Blue faces re-matches with Canada and Olympic gold medalist Japan on Saturday. The U.S. and Australia Sunday afternoon to close pool play.
