A Quick Hitter with MSU OL Coach John Hevesy

Mississippi State offensive line coach John Hevesy talks about his freshmen offensive linemen.

True freshman Sam Watts has been at Mississippi State since the spring. How has he done so far?
"He's doing a good job. He had a great summer in the weight room with (MSU head strength coach) Matt Balis in terms of his work ethic. He learned how to compete, how to push himself. Now, he'll continue that by learning college football in terms of fundamentals and techniques. But he needs to get a lot of body strength on him to get to that point."

Your other true freshman Gabe Jackson came in during the summer. What are your thoughts about him after watching him in a few practices?
"He's like a deer looking into headlights right now. But he's got physical talent, great athletic ability, the power. He's got all those things. Now it's just a matter of learning the fundamentals and the assignments. He's going to be swimming in that for a while but he's done a heck of a job in terms of working drills and fundamentals and picking things up."
