    Notes from the park:

  • The scrimmage was played in a light but steady rain.
  • According to MSU pitching coach Butch Thompson, juco RHP Michael Dixon met with MSU team doctor Rusty Linton after having an MRI done. He has ligament damage and it looks like he is going to wind up having Tommy John surgery. It's very likely that he and his parents may get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Alabama. Dixon was being looked as the closer for next spring.
  • There were around 25 fans at the park, including former MSU head coach Ron Polk.
  • Although all four pitchers topped out at 90 mile per hour, they were consistently throwing in the 87 to 89 range in their first inning of work. Faulkner threw the most consistently hard, hitting 89 miles per hour ten times in his 2-inning outing.
  • The pitchers expected to throw in Wednesday's game are true freshmen C.C. Watson, Chris Stratton, junior Trey Johnson and walk-on juco transfer Trent Hartzog.
