When did you actually commit to Coach Sherrill?
"Friday."

What schools did you officially visit?
"The Naval Academy, Northern Illinois and State."

Didn't the Naval Academy came on strong at the end?
"Yeah."

Talk about the pressure of of recruiting the last couple of weeks.
"I would go on visits every weekend and when I got home from that visit, I wanted to go there. When I went to the next place I wanted to go there. It was kind of like back and forth. The coaches called all the time."

And you also had people like me calling you. Was it tough on you?
"Yeah, it was pretty stressful the last two weeks."

Was it more because you were worried that you might make the wrong decision?
"Yeah, making the wrong decision or right decision."

What caused you to finally decide that Mississippi State was the right place for you?
"I just felt that I would be happier there because Northern Illinois is kind of far away from home and I wouldn't have been able to come home very often. And the Naval Academy, I wasn't sure about all the military stuff. I would have been obligated 5 years."

Are you relieved it is finally over with?
"Yeah."

How about telling the folks on Gene's Page how this all came about, starting with Thursday.
"Coach (Curley) Hallman called me and told me that Coach (Jackie) Sherrill was going to come by school Friday morning. Then Coach Sherrill called later on and said that he was coming. We met that morning and I told him that I was coming to State. I think he already knew that I was going to commit because Coach Hallman might have told him. He talked about gray shirt and other things. He told me that if I wanted to go full-time in the fall, my eligibility clock would start ticking. If I waited until January, it wouldn't start until January."

Will you still sign this coming Wednesday?
"I don't think so."

So, you'll come in as a part-time student and sign with State next December?
"Yeah."

Do you feel that is the best option for you?
"Yeah, that will give me more time to work on a degree. And, maybe, give me a chance to get a Master's before I leave."

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me, Cory.
"Alright."
