MSU World Series Game One Stats and Info

Mississippi State baseball played game one of the MSU Fall World Series Wednesday afternoon. Included are complete stats and notes from the game. Game two is set for a 3:30 start time on Friday afternoon.

  • C.C. Watson threw 3 1/3 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits and 4 walks while striking out 2.

    Notes from the park:

  • There were between 95 and 100 people watching the game.
  • Chris Stratton struck out four straight batters during the first and second inning. And it was four of MSU's better hitters - Trey Johnson, Ryan Duffy, Jarrod Parks and Cody Freeman.
  • Although he struggled with his control, Ben Bracewell, other than the home run by Ryan Duffy, didn't allow a ball out of the infield during his three-inning outing.
  • Bulldog runners stole 4 of 5 bases, including a steal of home by Jarrod Parks. That run turned out to be the gamewinner.
  • The winning pitcher was C.C. Watson, while Ben Bracewell took the loss.
  • Wes Thigpen had a 3-1 count on him when he hit his home run. Ryan Duffy had a 1-1 count when he hit his two-run shot.
  • Defensively, State turned 4 double plays. Only one error was committed in the game.
  • Starting pitchers for Friday's game are Nick Routt and Devin Jones with Tyler Whitney and Greg Houston in relief.
