MSU World Series Game Two Stats and Info

Mississippi State baseball played game two of the MSU Fall World Series Friday afternoon. Included are complete stats and notes from the game. Game three is set for a 11:00 am start time Saturday.

    Notes from the park:

  • There were between 150 and 175 people watching the game.
  • Russ Sneed's two-run home run in the top of the 6th inning proved to be the winning run. He also knocked in a run in the top of the first with a single. Connor Powers also had a double that knocked in a run in the same inning to give the Grey squad an early 2-0 lead.
  • The Maroon team scored all three of their runs in the 4th inning. Nick Vickerson knocked in 1 run with a double off of starting pitcher Tyler Whitney. Jones came in relief of Whitney and gave up a RBI single to Dallas Hannah and an RBI single to Carlos Leal before ending the threat.
  • State's runners were 2-for-2 in stolen bases. Nick Vickerson and Jaron Shepherd had the stolen bases.
  • Defensively, State didn't turn any double plays. There were no errors in the game.
  • The series is tied 1 game a piece.
  • The winning pitcher for the Greg squad was Devin Jones and the losing pitcher for the Maroon team was Greg Houston.
  • Starting pitchers for Saturday's game are Chad Girodo and Kendall Graveman with Corey Collins and Caleb Reed in relief.
