Louisiana Tech (4-3) would gradually build a lead in the second half, taking a 37-30 advantage five minutes in. With 10:16 left in the final half, Louisiana Tech had opened up a 10-point lead at 49-39. From that point however, the Lady Bulldogs turned the momentum, scoring 15 unanswered points ending with a 54-49 lead with 6:41 left on an Alexis Rack three-pointer.
Louisiana Tech would respond however and tie the game 57-57 with 4:10 left. After MSU claimed a brief lead, Louisiana Tech would tie it for the final time 61-61 with 2:12 left. >From that point, a made layup by Armelie Lumanu and a three-point play by Alexis Rack gave State a 66-61 lead with 1:22 left. State would hit 6-10 free throws down the stretch to hang on for the four-point win.
Rack led all State scorers with 32 points, including 20 in the second half. Lumanu scored a season-high 20 points and added five rebounds.
Despite shooting just 34.4 percent from the field, the Lady Bulldogs forced the Lady Techsters into 24 turnovers and scored 21 points off those turnovers.
With the win, State evened the all-time series record with LTU at 5-5, winning their third straight over LTU. The Lady Bulldogs now return home for two games in three days beginning with a matchup with Samford on Monday at 7 p.m. State then takes on Mississippi Valley State on Wednesday at noon at the Humphrey Coliseum.
