About the Lady Crimson Tide:
The Lady Crimson are coming off their first road win of the season against Arkansas. The Lady Crimson Tide are in the midst of one of the worst seasons in school history. One of the lone bright spots for the Lady Crimson Tide has been the play of Tierney Jenkins who is averaging 11.8 points a game and 9.5 rebounds on the season. But Jenkins play hasn't been enough to prevent the Lady Crimson Tide from being 9th in the SEC in offense and 11th in defense.
Projected Starting Line-Up:
About the Lady Bulldogs:
The Lady Bulldogs are coming off a surprising loss against Auburn this past Sunday on Senior Night. Coach Fanning-Otis has let them know how disappointing the loss against Auburn was during practice this week. The loss may serve as a wake-up call for the rest of the season and remind the Lady Bulldogs not to take any opponent lightly. One player that definitely take the lead for the Lady Bulldogs the rest of the season is Alexis Rack who is averaging 18.4 points a game. She leads a scoring attack that ranks 5th in scoring offense in the SEC. The Lady Bulldogs, even after a tough loss, are expected to make their second straight NCAA tournament unless they nose dive the rest of the season.
Projected Starting Line-Up :
Mississippi State - Chanel Mokango is my player to watch for this game. Mokango has been steady all season, averaging 10.6 points while blocking 2.4 shots a game but the Lady Bulldogs need for her to get more production on the inside as they head into tournament play. She definitely will need to be at her best as Alabama does have a solid post player in Tierney Jenkins.
Alabama - Tierney Jenkins is the player to watch for the Lady Crimson Tide. Jenkins is averaging nearly a double-double on the season, 11.8 points and 9.5 rebounds. The Lady Bulldogs don't have a lot of size inside which could be perfect for Jenkins to have a big day.
The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Crimson Tide are on different paths. The Lady Bulldogs are on the road to the NCAA tournament while the Lady Crimson Tide are playing for pride. The Lady Bulldogs have a more overall talented team than the Tide but the Lady Crimson Tide do have talented power forward Tierney Jenkins. However, the Lady Bulldogs have more firepower with five players averaging in double figures. The last game between the two teams in Starkville was the blowout by the Lady Bulldogs. I expect the Lady Bulldogs to win again but anything can happen, especially after the Lady Bulldogs lost to Auburn on Sunday.
