MSU and Ole Miss to Meet in Humphrey Coliseum

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The 14th-ranked Mississippi State Lady Bulldogs are looking for their 20th win this coming Sunday when they host Mississippi at 4 p.m. in Humphrey Coliseum. MSU is trying to solidify its fourth-place standing in the SEC with Sunday afternoon's matchup. The Lady Bulldogs are currently tied for fourth with Vanderbilt in SEC standings, while Mississippi is in 11th place.

MSU is 10-1 at home and increased its winning streak to three on Thursday night with the win over No. 14 Arkansas, 72-59. Senior LaToya Thomas, a Wade Trophy finalist, and sophomore Tan White combined for 60 points in the victory. Thomas has taken over leading the league this season, averaging 25.2 ppg. She has now led the SEC all four years of her career.

Earlier this season the Lady Bulldogs squeaked by Mississippi, 69-60, to extend the overall record to 10-53. Rebel Amber Watts went 10-for-10 from the line adding to her 20 points for Mississippi. For the Bulldogs, Thomas, White and sophomore Rebecca Kates scored in double digits to lift MSU to a win.

The Rebels are enduring a five-game losing streak. Their most recent loss came to LSU on Thursday, 83-67. Watts leads the Rebels averaging 12.4 ppg and 8.6 rpg. She is second in the SEC in rebounds. UM's lone SEC win of the season came against Florida, 74-72.

Sunday afternoon the Lady Bulldogs are looking for win No. 20. MSU has only accomplished a 20+ win season one other time in history during the 1999-2000 campaign where the Lady Bulldogs finished 24-8. MSU is also looking to sweep the series for only the third time in history (others during 1999-2000 and 2001-02 seasons).
