Memphis CB Lands SEC Camp Offer

The city of Memphis is yielding a solid group of college bound prospects this year. One of the most highly sought after players is Tino Thomas. Tino plays both running back and defensive back on the high school, but it appears he will build his college repuation as a corner. This past weekend Thomas earned another offer from the SEC after a strong camp showing in pass coverage.

Tino Thomas profile

"The camp went real well," said Thomas. "I met Coach Mullen and the whole coaching staff. Mississippi State offered me today"

Tino reports he ran a 4.40 time in the 40 yard dash heard the good news about the Bulldogs' intentions directly from the top Dawg.

"Coach Mullen told me they were ready to offer me," said Thomas. "They are talking about me playing corner. I feel like I did good at the camp and I impressed the coaches there. After I ran my 40 they started paying me a lot of attention. I guess I turned some heads with that. I was trying to get that 4.3, but I couldn't."

During the course of the day's events, Tino had the chance to work directly with Mississippi State corners coach, Melvin Smith.

"Coach Smith told me that he loved me," chuckled Thomas. "He was telling me that they want me there and that I looked good out there. He said I had a home there at Mississippi State."

Tino was happy to earn his newest offer, but reports he is no where near a decision.

"I have offers from Arkansas, Kentucky, Memphis, Duke, Southern Miss and now Mississippi State. Right now I don't really have any favorites.

"I really like the SEC. That's the fastest conference and I like to play fast.

"I am the type of guy that wants to wait until after the season. I want to see how things go and then I will do something close to signing day in February."
