Devin Robinson talks two SEC camps

Devin Robinson, outside linebacker from Athens-East Limestone, Ala., has remained busy at camps and combines in the off-season. He turned in an impressive performance at the South Showcase Combine and attended a couple of SEC camps. He talked about recent camp performances.

"I have been to Vanderbilt and Auburn," said Devin Robinson. "I was at Auburn yesterday. I am going to Mississippi State tomorrow. I am then going over to Ole Miss July 17."

The impressive athlete talked more about the Auburn camp.

"The Auburn camp was real intense," he said. "It was fun out there. They had a good environment. We did a lot of drills and one-on-ones. I worked out as a running back.

"I talked to coach Luper. He talked to us about different ways to carry the ball and secure it. He was giving us some good pointers. He showed us how you can tuck the ball and nobody can see it or poke it out from behind.

"I really enjoyed working out with coach Luper. It was fun. Overall I liked the camp a lot. It was really hot and long. There was a lot of competition out there. You really got a chance to showcase yourself."

Robinson expressed his interest in the Tigers.

"I like Auburn," he said. "It's a nice school. It's close to home. They win games, and I like their style of offense."

Robinson spent time in Nashville prior to the camp at Auburn showcasing his talent in front of the Commodore coaching staff.

"The Vanderbilt camp was really good as well," Robinson said. "It was packed up there. We did a lot of drills. I worked at both running back and linebacker. I ran a good 40 time. I ran a 4.5-flat.

"After I ran the 40 coach Johnson came up to me and said he was impressed. He said to keep working hard. He said they only have a certain amount of offers at running back and wanted me to work out at different positions.

"I liked working out at linebacker. It's a different aspect of the game. It's easier. You don't have to learn so much. You can follow the ball and drop back in coverage.

"Vanderbilt is recruiting me on both sides of the ball. Coach Caldwell said I can play running back, H-Back or in the slot on offense. Then on defense they could use me as a pass rusher or as an outside linebacker."

Robinson does not list any favorites, but Vanderbilt is a school of high interest.

"I think Vanderbilt is a really good school," he said. "They are moving in the right direction. I like the environment there."
