He has an idea what he will be looking at while on the visits.
"I want to meet the coaches and see the facilities, the academic center and see the campus, things like that," said the 6-3, 215-pounder
He's visited two of the three colleges, although he's never toured the facilities.
"I live closer to Southern and have been there a lot, not on a visit, so I know about Southern," said Holder. "I've been to State's baseball camps but I'm never toured anything. And I've never been to Ole Miss."
Holder, who is a great hitter, also is a very good pitcher, consistently throwing his fastball in the 87-90 range, topping out at 91. And as you would expect, he's been looked at for both first base and pitcher in college.
"The coaches have all told me that I can pretty much be a dual-position player, play first, hit and pitch," said Holder. "I love both of them."
As for when he's going to make his college decision, he's not really sure of a timeframe.
"I'm taking it slow right now and keeping all of my options open," said the tall, hard-throwing righthander. "When I get ready to pick someone that's when I'll do it."
