Once he's through working the Williams camp, it's back to playing AAU hoops. In his case, he'll almost be playing from coast to coast the next two weeks.
"I leave to go to Las Vegas (next) Wednesday (for an AAU tournament), then from there I fly out to Orlando (for the 2010 AAU National Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports facility in Lake Buena Vista, Florida)," said Smith.
While playing for MBA Hoops in the various AAU tournaments this summer, Smith has been putting in extra time on a few areas of his game.
"I've been working on my defense and I've been working a lot more on keeping my eyes working to find the open player," said the Scout.com four-star prospect. "To help my defense I've been working on my foot movement. Offensively, I've been working on my jump shot."
And he's seen real improvement.
"I've improved on defense and how to come off the pick and roll," said Smith, who Scout.com has ranked the 89th best overall player and 18th best point guard among the class of 2011 prospects. "At the LeBron James (Skills Academy) Camp, I learned how to come off the pick and roll right and how to adjust to the trap."
Smith has also kept in touch with the other top players in Mississippi this summer.
"I keep in contact with all the players that Mississippi State is recruiting like Johnny O'Bryant who is here with me now at this camp," said Smith. "Tyler Adams and Mychal Ammons are also here with me."
