Thomas Roulis Recruiting Update

Thomas Roulis is a 5-9, 150-pound switch-hitting INF/OF who plays his high school ball for Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York and his summer travel team ball with the Long Island Storm 17U team, a team that I saw play at the 17U WWBA National Championship in Marietta, GA. He is receiving recruiting interest from schools in the northeast and one in the south, Mississippi State.

"I've received calls from Mississippi State and Stoney Brook but I've been in communication, through email or visiting schools, with Columbia, spoken to Villanova through email, spoken to Princeton and Amherst," said Roulis.

Roulis has no specific thing he is looking for in a college other than the normal things.

"I'm looking at both academics and athletics," said Roulis.

Waiting for his first scholarship offer, Roulis is not ready to tip his hand on which college he is most interested in.

"At this point I'm trying to keep my options open, so I'm not really pin-pointed on a school yet," he said.

Roulis is a versatile player who can play a multitude of positions.

"I mostly play second and sometimes I go over to short, and I can always play some outfield," said Roulis.

In addition to his versatility, he also has other strengths.

"I always try to do the little things, back up the pitchers, make the routine play," said Roulis. "On offense, I try to stay back and hit the ball up the middle and if the pitch is outside I try to take it the other way."

Another strength of his is his speed.

"I run a 6.8 (in the sixty)," said Roulis, who stole around 15 bases in 25 games this past season. "I usually have the green light on the base paths and I go when I want. Other times, I wait for the coaches signal."
