Casey explained why he decided State was the place for him.
"I got along real well with the coaches, the campus is beautiful, the baseball program is fantastic, and Coach Cohen really seems to care about his players and wants to win as well," said Casey.
He explained in more detail about the baseball program and where he feels it is headed under John Cohen.
"The program has been down the last two seasons but Coach Cohen is about to get it back to where it should be," noted Casey. "He is going to make it an elite baseball program. He is bringing in some of the top recruits in the country. He brought in some top recruits in last year's class and he's bringing them in my class also."
Casey plans on taking his official visit this fall.
"I plan on taking my official visit sometime in the fall," said Casey. "I will be hosted by (MSU true freshman) Cody Abraham on my visit. He lives near my hometown."
Phillip Casey is Mississippi State's fourth commitment in the 2011 graduating class.
