Tyler talked about why he chose Mississippi State.
"I had two or three schools that if I had picked them it wouldn't have been a wrong choice either, but I wanted to play SEC ball, which is something that I had dreamed about since I was a little boy," said Tyler. "I guess it was that, the atmosphere (at State) and the coaching staff. All that together was the reason."
He talked about those other possible choices.
"I also considered Western Kentucky, UT (Tennessee) and Vanderbilt," said Tyler. "All of them offered." Middle Tennessee State also offered him as well.
Two of those schools also play in the SEC but there was just something about Mississippi State.
"There was nothing negative about those schools, something just clicked in my head about Mississippi State," said Tyler.
He talked about the process of choosing Mississippi State.
"This past week it was flip-flopping between them and a couple of schools," said Tyler, who batted .351 with 17 doubles, 6 triples, 4 homers and 21 stolen bases for his high school this past season. "But last night it became apparent to me. I think it just clicked yesterday. I called them today and committed."
State's coaches have told him what position they expect him to play.
"They said they want me to play outfield first, then if they need me too, I can play in the infield," said Tyler, who runs a 6.51 sixty-yard dash.
While he waits to play at Mississippi State and in the SEC, he has other things he wants to accomplish.
"Now, it is more of a drive for me to bust my tail and try and improve myself for next year, but, of course, we are trying to get to the State (championship)," said Tyler. "Hopefully, with me doing that, that will help my team."
Tyler Fullerton is Mississippi State's sixth commitment of the 2011 graduating class.
