Rising senior Christopher Owens had a big performance at Missouri State last weekend. The Springdale (AR.) High prospect talked with Scout.com about his effort and his recruitment.

Christopher Owens is a lanky defensive back, capable of covering a lot of ground on the field. His 6-foot-3, 170-pound frame is one of his biggest assets.

"I consider my press coverage as my biggest strength because of my athleticism and length," Owens said.

Owens displayed his length on the field in front of the Missouri State staff last Sunday.

"I liked the camp. I feel like I dominated most of it. I used my press coverage to my advantage. The coaches really liked how physical I am," he continued.

Owens is still building his relationship with the Missouri State coaching staff. He likes what he saw on campus, and he is fond of the coach that he's had contact with.

"I've only really talked to Coach (Courtney) Sanders. He's real cool. He likes my game," Owens said. "I like Missouri State a whole lot. Everything about the campus is nice. I need to know more about the football program," he continued.

Owens was a dominating presence for Springdale last year, forcing teams completely away from his side of the field. His ability to cover has caught the eye of several football programs.

"I hear from Arkansas State, Missouri State, Northwest Missouri State, and I've heard from Ole Miss. My only offer has come from Central Oklahoma," he said.

Does Owens think that Missouri State will join Central Oklahoma in offering?

"Yes, very soon," he said.
