Bears add another commit

Coach Dave Steckel knows building a defense requires building a strong defensive line. Missouri State added a building block to that line today when they got a commitment from Colin Bess.

Bess, from Central High in Park Hills (MO.), had several offers in hand, but chose to run with his offer from Missouri State.

“My offers were from Missouri State, New Mexico, Ball State, Southern Illinois and Miami,” said Bess. “I committed to Missouri State today.”

The 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end chose the Bears over those others for a number of reasons.

“There were a lot of things that I liked. I think the coaching staff can do good things. Seems like good team chemistry as well,” he said.

The entire visit was successful for Bess. He felt comfortable with Coach Steckel’s plan and feels like it will work out in Missouri State’s favor.

“The visit was great. I got to meet the whole coaching staff and many players on the team. I think Coach Steck will do big things at Missouri State. (There is) a lot of potential in the near future and I’m glad to be a part of it,” he continued.

Bess was named all-state two times in Missouri and has the sack record at his high school. He helped his team to a 12-1 record this year and last. They won district for three straight seasons with the help of Bess.
