The Willard (MO.) lineman also had an offer from Southeast Missouri State, but chose to pick the Bears.
Merrill was named All-State two times as a defensive player. Merrill, who’s expected to play nose guard at the next level, also played guard for his high school program.
Willard Head Coach Brock Roweton told Mike Scott of OzarkSportsZone.com what he thought of Merrill as a player.
“He is a superior athlete in a lineman body. He has extremely quick feet and hands. He is also the most powerful high school kid I’ve ever been around or seen,” Roweton told Scott.
