Latest on Florida Three-Star DB

Miramar (FLA) defensive back Steve Montgomery just completed an impressive senior season for the Patriots, and has put together a fine offer list. Who is in the mix for the talented player? Scout.com has the latest on Montgomery.

Steve Montgomery had a fine senior season for Miramar (FLA), and the three-star defensive back has put together an impressive offer list.

Montgomery, 5-foot-11, 190-pounds, has added value because he can play both safety and cornerback, and that has helped increase his offer list. He has offers from Minnesota, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and others.

"Things are going great with my recruiting, and I've got visits set up for the rest of the month," Montgomery explained. "I'm going to Maryland this weekend, and I'm looking forward to that. I'm excited to meet the new coaching staff, and see what they're all about."

"Next week, I will be going to Western Michigan, and the following week I'm going to Memphis," he added. "I'm keeping my last week open, and I have a few schools in mind, but I'd rather not say right now."

Montgomery has already taken an official visit to Minnesota, and he came away extremely impressed by what he saw in Gopher country.

"I loved Minnesota, to be honest, and they're at the top of my list right now," he stressed. "It was just a great visit, and they told me I could play early there. I really liked the new coaching staff, and I knew them from when they recruited me for Northern Illinois."

"Once they moved over to Minnesota, they kept recruiting me, and that meant a lot to me," he continued. "They are definitely on top for me, followed by Maryland, and I've got to learn the new staff at Maryland."

Montgomery, who plans a National Signing Day announcement, added that several new teams are in the mix, and could land his final visit.

"Ole Miss has started recruiting me, and I would look at them very seriously," he noted. "They're in the SEC, and that means a lot to me. Oklahoma State has also jumped into the picture, and I'm high on them too. I'd love to hear from Miami, but the coach that was recruiting me (Aubrey Hill) left for Florida."

"Distance from home won't play a part in my decision at all," he admitted. "I'll go anywhere, to the West Coast if I have to. I'm just looking for the place that's best for me, and I'm going to take as much time as I need to."
