ShowMeMizzou.com spoke recently with the top junior prospect in the St. Louis area from the class of 2012.
Edwardsville (IL) high school defensive tackle Vincent Valentine 6'4" 300lbs is a massive athlete that is strong, explosive and can run.
It's no wonder that the talented junior has around 10 verbal offers from colleges across the country given his athletic ability and prowess on the football field.
Vincent updated us on where things were with his recruitment as of late, including a couple of junior day visits he has planned.
"Recruiting has been going good"said Valentine. "I have the same number of offers since the last time we talked, but I will be going to Missouri's junior day on the 22nd of January, and I will be attending Kansas State's later on since it's not too far away."
Vincent shared his thoughts on Missouri and why he will be heading to Columbia this coming Saturday.
"I really like the program and the coaches. I like Coach Ford. It's close to home and I want to play close by so that my parents and family can come and see me play every other week or as much as possible. My Dad likes them. I also like what they do with their defensive line. They are producing some good players and I like how they are sending them to the NFL."
The big defensive tackle said he is excited to see Missouri in person this weekend.
When I asked him if he had a top 5 or top 10 list, he told me 4 schools he was focusing on.
"I really don't have a top 10 or top 5 even.I have 4 schools I like right now. I like Missouri, they would be at the top right now and they are the closest to home, along with Wisconsin,Iowa and then Oklahoma. They are also pretty close by."
Vincent said he would likely be attending some camps this summer and possibly a combine coming up, but said he did not have a timetable of when he would make a college decision.
ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to follow the recruiting trail of Vincent Valentine and follow up on his Missouri junior day visit.
