The Latest With Michael Scherer

St. Louis linebacker gives us an update on his recruitment and his recent visit to Missouri's junior day

One of the top 2012 prospects in Missouri, LB Michael Scherer  6'3" 235 4.7  St. Louis (MO) MICDS, was in attendance at Missouri's recent Junior Day event.   Afterwards, he took time to visit with, and talked about the experience.

"The Junior Day was great!  I got a lot of time to visit, and talk with the coaches, and get a little more familiar with them,"  said Scherer.  "It was a good day."

Scherer projects as a MLB in Missouri's 4-3 defense.  Scherer said that he wants to attend a school where he will get a shot to get on the field relatively early.  He reports a 4.36 shuttle time, a 32" vertical jump, and a maximum bench press of 365 pounds.
Scherer indicated that he and Durron Neal have become good friends, and that the two of them have talked about attending the same school.

"I could see us going to the same place together,"  admitted Scherer.  "We've talked about that.  Missouri's a very good possibility for that.  If something like that works out, that would be a great situation for both of us."

"Mizzou is definitely toward the top of our lists,"  said Scherer.  "We know that for sure."

Scherer, who holds offers from Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Boston College, and Nebraska, among others, said that he's taking his time with making a decision, and that he's currently "wide open" with respect to his recruitment.

Scherer talked about wanting to make a decision before his senior season.
