The Missouri Tigers picked up commitment number 17 yesterday with Texas cornerback Ernest Payton pulling the trigger on a commitment. The questions remains if the Tigers are done or if there could be any more commits coming.
One player that ShowMeMizzou.com tracked down that has been on the Tigers radar as of late is Bullard(TX) Athlete Tyler Baker 5'10" 187lbs 4.46 forty- 34" vertical.
Baker, who played Quarterback and Safety at Brook Hill high school, talked to us about his situation regarding the Tigers.
"I have been hearing from Missouri lately," said Baker. "Coach Odom has been recruiting me and they expressed their interest, but were very honest with me about the situation. As of a couple of days ago, they said that they liked me, but that they were waiting on another player to see if he committed. And if he did then that would take my spot and they wouldn't have room for me. If he did not commit, then I would get an offer."
Baker wasn't aware of the name of the player in question. You have to wonder though if Ernest Payton the player mentioned.
I asked Tyler how much interest he had in Missouri if an offer came down since he hasn't visited and signing day is this coming Wednesday.
"I have a lot of interest in Missouri and really like them," Baker said. "I have watched them a lot on TV, and I have been trying to do as much research as possible on them. While it would be nice to visit, I would have no problem signing with them without visiting."
While he was a standout QB/DB and kick returner at Brook Hill, where he scored over 100 touchdowns in his career,Baker told of a position change on the college level.
"They like me as a slot receiver. I was compared to TJ Moe and they like my speed, toughness and running ability with the ball in my hands."
"A&M is probably more likely to offer me according to what their coaches said about their numbers. Either school would be an honor to play at."
Baker was expecting to hear something today. ShowMeMizzou.com will follow this late recruiting situation.
