ShowMeMizzou.com introduced you to Columbia(MO)Rock Bridge TE prospect Austin Ray 6'6" 234lbs 4.69, last spring 2010, identifying him as a player to watch for the class of 2012.
Now, the physical, yet athletic tight end, is receiving attention from some major colleges including Missouri
Ray was invited to Missouri's junior day back on January 22nd, but was unable to attend due to a delay of his basketball team getting back from a game in Camdenton.
" I was really disappointed", said Ray. "I like the Tigers a lot and was hoping to get to see things more up close, meet the coaches and see the basketball game.We were late getting back and I missed it."
Austin hopes that he continues to get recruited by the Tigers, and that an offer will come his way.
"It would be great to get an offer from them. I am very familiar with them being the hometown team. I have grown up liking Missouri. I also like their offense a lot", added Ray.
While he missed Missouri's junior day, the big tight end was able to attend both Iowa's and Oklahoma's junior days.
ShowMeMizzou.com gives you an upclose look at Austin Ray's junior highlights in this video.
Player Analysis:Austin Ray has great size, good speed and displays very good skills and ability in catching the ball, especially on the run and without breaking stride. He has the ability to make difficult catches and uses his body well to keep himself and the ball away from defenders. A skill I am sure he learned playing basketball. He is a big, surehanded target in the red zone. He is also a physical blocker that can line up in a traditional tight end alignment, or be very effective spread out wide or in the slot.He has a nice ability to catch the ball away from his body or above his head.He has the frame to add weight and keep his athleticism and speed.
