LB Clarence Green 6'0" 210 4.47 Freeport (TX) Brazoswood
During his breakout junior season, Clarence Green registered 131 tackles, including 15 TFLs, 7.5 sacks, 4 fumble recoveries, and 2 INTs, while playing for Coach Dean Deatley's squad. That performance earned Green team MVP and 1st-Team All-District honors. Clarence was again named team MVP in 2010 despite missing half his season due to injury. He recorded 375 total tackles during his high school career.
On the Brazoswood track team, Green was a regional qualifier in the 110-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump. Then, his senior season was cut short by a foot injury.
Away from football, Green enjoys playing basketball, watching sports television, hanging out with friends, and listening to music.
With an assist from his parents, Clarence and Casandre Green, Green chose Missouri, where he would like to study business administration in Missouri's School of Business, over Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, Houston, Kentucky and Tulsa, among others.
"I think he's really good," said Missouri Defensive Coordinator and linebackers coach, Coach Dave Steckel. "I think he's in the mold of a (Zaviar) Gooden, because he played safety. And, we're projecting him to move forward, move up to linebacker, in our scheme. Very fast player, very athletic. Great change of direction. So, I'm really excited about him."
"(Clarence Green) is very fast," said Green's primary recruiter, Coach Craig Kuligowski. "He's got a great vertical jump. H'e explosive. He has a great burst. He's a super kid.............................. I'm excited about him. I know Coach Steck is excited about him. When I went to that school, the thing that impressed me the most, was everybody went out of their way to tell me what a great kid he was. He's earned an academic scholarship here, as well. He's a real high-character guy. He's a great kid. He can run. He hits. He's tough. He's smart. He's a hard worker. Everything you're looking for."
JP's Take-Clarence Green is a great athlete, great character kid, great student and good person. On the football field he is all business and isn't so nice. He uses his speed very well to make plays in the backfield chasing down QBs or running backs. His ideal position will be at the WILL LB position at Mizzou. He played primarily MLB his senior season before becoming injured. He was great roaming sideline to sideline using his speed and playmaking ability. He is physical and big hitter. Clarence sheds blockers very well and is very physical despite not being the biggest LB. He plays much bigger then his size taking on linemen and ballcarriers. He also has the athleticism to cover on passing downs.
