The Talented Missouri athlete spoke to ShowMeMizzou.com to update us with the latest on his recruitment and shed some light on a possible timeline when a decision could be made as far a picking a school goes.
"The visits to Notre Dame and Northwestern were great", said Scherer. "It was good to see those schools and find out what they are about. Up next is Missouri this Friday. I plan to go up there and meet with the dean of the Business school and then me and my Dad might stay over for the the basketball game against KU on Saturday."
Scherer spoke highly about the Tigers and said that they will be in the race for his services until the end.
"I love Mizzou!", exclaimed Scherer. "They offered me early and I have been up there a lot. Every time I visit it feels like home. I also love the coaches. They are great and Coach Kul (Kuligowski) is a lot of fun and we stay in touch. I get some great mail from Missouri letting me know how much they want me."
Despite the love for the Tiger program, Michael isn't in a hurry to make a commitment to Missouri or any other school.
"I know they would like me to commit, but my plan is to narrow things down after some more visits and camps over the summer. My family and I will sit down and compare everything and make what I feel is the right choice for me."
Michael just picked up another offer the other day and listed some of the other upcoming visits he plans to make this spring and summer that he knows about.
"Indiana just offered me, which was cool", said Scherer. "There new coach new about me from recruiting St. Louis while he was at Oklahoma, and their new DC recruited me while he was the linebacker coach at Nebraska, so I am familiar with those guys."
"As far as upcoming visits", continued Scherer, "after Missouri I plan on going to Oklahoma, Michigan and Michigan State, and I would like to go to Stanford to check it out. My brother wrestles out there, but that will be harder to just take an unofficial to like the other schools. I also think I will be attending a camp at Nebraska."
Something else I talked to Michael about was how it has come up recently that some teams see him as an H-Back/ Tight End or Defensive Lineman, and I asked if that would have an affect on picking a school.
"No, what position I play really doesn't matter" he said. "If that's the school where I want to be, I will play anywhere the coaches want me to play. I just want to play. I also want to like the school that I am going to be at, like the coaches, the academics and everything about it. So, a lot more then where I am going to play will go into my decision."
