ShowMeMizzou.com spoke recently to St. Louis (MO) Parkway Central WR/S prospect Brandon Sheperd 6'2" 190-pounds about his recruitment.
"I liked the visit up there very much", said Sheperd. "It was really good. I went up and looked around and watched the basketball game. I spoke to coaches and got a feel for things. I like Coach Ford and Coach Hill a lot. I would like to get an offer from the Tigers."
Sheperd continued to describe his visit to Mizzou. "I saw Chase Daniel, Jeremy Maclin and Danario Alexander, who all play in the NFL now while I was there. They were all at the game. It's great to see guys who played at Missouri make it in the NFL. The all seem like cool guys and loved their time at Mizzou."
Brandon had told me before his visit that he would likely wait until after his senior season before making a decision. The visit seemed to have changed his mind a bit regarding that.
"I think I changed my mind on that. I really like Missouri after being there. I could see myself not waiting to commit if an offer came from the Tigers and I felt like it was the right place for me. I like the coaches, the school and the offense a lot", said Sheperd.
Sheperd, who wants to play wide receiver in college, said that seeing the field early would be important.
" I want to play as early as possible. So I will look at who is on the roster and try and see where I fit in. I would like to be able to play in a a year or so after getting there. As early as a possible."
Brandon also informed me of a second verbal offer coming his way from Illinois.
Sheperd plans on taking some more unofficial visits as his schedule permits.
Despite only catching the ball 20 times in 2010 in a run dominated offense, Brandon Sheperd averaged over 22 yards per catch and scored 6 touchdowns. He also recorded 52 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and 2 interceptions from his safety position.
Brandon is very athletic and has good hands and outstanding speed. He is also a physical player who blocks well in the run game, and plays solid defense against both the run and pass.
He was recently one of the stand outs at the Show-Me Combine. Here were his thoughts on how he did at the event and about his recruitment.
