Talented Big Man Hopes To Hear From Haith

One of the top unsigned center prospects in the 2011 class is familiar with the new Missouri Tiger basketball coach and is hoping to hear from him as a new recruiting period starts

With the contact period upon us, Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith is hitting the recruiting trail. Coach Haith has indicated that he would like to find a "big man". ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with a 2011 big man from Toronto, Ontario, who recently decommitted from Oklahoma, following the departure of Jeff Capel. Richard Peters is a 6'10" 250 pound lefty, who is currently attending Westwind Prep in Phoenix, AZ.

Westwind Prep Head Basketball coach Bobby Bossman talked about Peters.

"This year has been great for (Richard)," said Coach Bossman. "It's been a great maturity year. He's really understanding what it means to work hard. Right now, he has Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, Marquette, Washington, and Washington State. Obviously, we'd love to get Missouri in the picture, as well........................ Richard wants to play at a high level, for a coach that's going to continue to develop him............................ He's got a great feel for the game, and is a very good passer out of the block."

Peters is expected to take the ACT this Saturday for the first time. Coach Bossman expressed confidence that Peters is well-prepared to take the test.

Frank Haith had recruited Peters while at Miami. When I spoke to Peters, he was excited about the news that Coach Haith had taken over at Missouri.

"I know exactly who he is," said Peters, speaking of the former Miami coach.

Peters explained why he would be very interested in hearing from the new Missouri coach again.

"My family member from Canada, Kadeem Green, is at Missouri," explained Peters. "We're not related by blood, but I've known Kadeem my whole life. He's been a really, really good friend to me. We're like family............................ That's good news! I'm pretty happy to hear that (Coach Haith) is at Missouri. I'd like to go play with Kadeem!"

ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to follow Richard Peter's recruitment.
