The top in-state target on the Missouri Tigers recruiting board for 2012 is 5-star WR Dorial Green-Beckham 6'6" 220 4.45 Springfield (MO) Hillcrest, who is the top player in the Midland region, and the #2 ranked player overall nationally, according to Scout.com.
Green-Beckham has scholarship offers from dozens of schools, literally from every heavy weight in college football.
Green-Beckham is competing for Hillcrest in track, where he is one of the favorites to repeat at state in the 100 meters, the long jump, and the triple jump. As a sophomore, Green-Beckham placed first in the state track meet in the 100 meters, and the triple jump, and came in second in the long jump. He recently posted a triple jump of over 45 feet, and a 100 meter time of 10.7 seconds.
ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Green-Beckham's father, John Beckham, and he updated us on his son's recruitment.
Green-Beckham is planning to take a number of unofficial visits in the coming weeks or months, but doesn't have any visits scheduled at this time. One of those visits will be to Missouri, but a specific date has not been established. He would like to "narrow things down" in the coming months, although a specific time-table for a decision has not been set.
"I don't think Dorial is a huge fan of the recruiting process," said Beckham. "I don't see it going on forever, but I don't really see him being close to a decision right now........................... I don't know what else to say, other than I don't know."
"I want him to narrow it down to a manageable number by September," continued Beckham. "I just want to make sure that when he decides, that he's 100% committed to it."
Green-Beckham realizes that "his future is in football", and he has decided to fore-go playing multiple sports in college.
