Tuesday Practice Report

The Missouri Tigers begin their last week of spring football with a spirited,physical outdoor practice

On Tuesday afternoon, the Missouri Tigers wrapped up their final full pads practice of the spring, prior to this Saturday's Black & Gold scrimmage. Their were numerous changes within the depth chart following Saturday's major scrimmage, most notably at the QB position, where James Franklin was seen lining up ahead of Tyler Gabbert.

There was also quite a bit of movement along the defensive line, as Marvin Foster, and Lucas Vincent, each moved ahead of Jimmy Burge, at one DT position, and Kony Ealy moved back ahead of Brayden Burnett, at the DE position, behind Brad Madison. The injury report remained stable, although Tony Randolph did get back into action. Among those sitting out were Elvis Fisher, Austin Wuebbels, Stephen Carberry, Rolandis Woodland, Greg White, Derrion Thomas, Xavier Smith, Luke Lambert, Will Ebner, and Donovan Bonner.

Tuesday's was a quality practice in which several players made a good impression, including L'Damian Washington, Gahn McGaffie, Jimmie Hunt, Marcus Lucas, Bud Sasser, Marcus Murphy, and Tyler Gabbert, on the offense, and Kony Ealy, Lucas Vincent, E.J. Gaines, and Tavon Bolden, on defense. Coach Pinkel talked about how he saw practice.

"We had a real good practice," said Coach Pinkel. "There was a lot of enthusiasm. It was very competitive."

During special teams work, Marcus Murphy, Henry Josey, and T.J. Moe returned kicks.

During 7-on-7s, James Franklin found Henry Josey on a crossing route for a nice gain. Franklin hit T.J. Moe on a cross for a nice gain. Kendial Lawrence took an inside hand-off from Franklin, and started around the left side, where he was swarmed under for no gain by several defenders, including Terrell Resonno, Jacquies Smith, and others. Tavon Bolden came up and stopped De'Vion Moore in his tracks, near the line of scrimmage. Franklin hit Andrew Jones on a crossing route for a first down. Franklin hooked up with L'Damian Washington on a deep throw, down along the right sideline. Randy Ponder was among several defenders in the area. Franklin hit Moe on a short cross. Wilson came up and knocked Moe off of his feet. Franklin found Gahn McGaffie out in the left seam. McGaffie turned it up, and found his way into the end zone.

Tyler Gabbert's pass sailed high, through Marcus Lucas' hands, and fell incomplete. Gabbert found Jerrell Jackson, who made a nice catch, out along the left side, in front of Andrew Wilson. Gabbert found Josey out along the left side for a short gain, before Jared Parham brought him down. Gabbert hit Bud Sasser in the right seam on an in route, for a first down. Zaviar Gooden got his hand in, and broke up Gabbert's pass attempt, intended for Michael Egnew. Gabbert found T.J. Moe on a short cross for a nice gain. Gabbert hit Egnew on a short cross, in front of Andrew Wilson and Kenji Jackson, for a modest gain.

Ashton Glaser found Josey out along the left sideline for a nice gain. Sasser came back up along the right sideline to make a nice reception of a Glaser pass, in front of Robert Steeples. Glaser's pass throw to Jaleel Clark down the right seam was on target, but Clark, who was bracketed by Braylon Webb and Daniel Easterly, couldn't hold on.

During 1-on-1 pass-rush drills, Brad Madison used a double move to get past Justin Britt. Dan Hoch took Jacquies Smith on past the QB, to score a win. Jayson Palmgren picked up a win over Resonno, pushing him on past the QB. Jack Meiners picked up a win over Marvin Foster.

During the Tiger Drill, Kenronte Walker tackled Gahn McGaffie. Marcus Lucas ran through an attempted tackle by Tyler Davis. Marcus Murphy ran through a tackle.

During 11-on-11 competition, Franklin found Eric Waters out along the right hash, where Waters was tackled immediately by Bolden and others. Kemp started to come back along the right sideline for Franklin's pass. But Kemp stopped, and the pass fell incomplete in front of him. Franklin hit Egnew on an out route, out along the left sideline.

Michael Egnew took a hand-off from Tyler Gabbert on the sweep, and took it around the left side for a nice gain. Murphy took an inside hand-off running to his right. He made several people miss, and worked his way up along the right side for a first down, before he was brought down by Darvin Ruise, Robert Steeples, and others. Gabbert's pass down the left hash mark was completed to McGaffie, who made a nice leaping grab, before he was leveled by Easterly. Josey took a swing pass from Gabbert up along the left sideline for a first down.

Ashton Glaser completed a pass to Stephen Drain, sitting down over the middle, for a first down, in between Michael Brennan and Daniel Carpenter. Glaser's pass attempt, intended for Wesley Leftwich on a slant, was behind Leftwich, who reached back and tipped the ball into the air, but the pass fell incomplete. Murphy took a pitch around the left side for a first down.

During the red-zone 11-on-11, Josey took an inside hand-off from Franklin, and took it over the left side for about 6 yards. Franklin found Eric Waters out along the left side for the first down. Waters was slow getting up after a rude greeting in the secondary. Franklin found L'Damian Washington on the slip screen, and Washington got down to inside the five. Murphy took an inside hand-off, broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage, and took it in for the score.

Kendial Lawrence took an inside hand-off from Gabbert, and took it over the right side, then cut back and worked his way back across toward the left pylon for the TD. De'Vion Moore took it over the left side, and ran into a pile. Kenji Jackson and Lucas Vincent were at the bottom of the pile. Gabbert pulled it down and took off up the middle for a couple. Facing third and goal, from inside the five, Gabbert faked the speed sweep, and quickly hit Jerrell Jackson on the slip screen. Trey Hobson read it, and stopped Jackson for no gain.

Michael Brennan batted Glaser's pass down in the end zone. Murphy took a pitch and ran over the right side, and walked into the end zone. Murphy took it over the right side, cutting behind a block by Nick Demien, and worked his way into the end zone.
