2011 QB Corbin Berkstresser will be in attendance on Saturday.  He talked about the nearness of his move to Columbia, scheduled for the first week of June.

"I'm pretty excited,"  said Berkstresser.  "It's kind of surreal, how close it is.  I can't wait to get there, in what, a month?"
LB Brandon Durant will be in attendance on Saturday.

"I'm coming.  I'll be there,"  said Durant, talking about attending Mizzou's final spring practice.  Then, on his move to Columbia.  "I can't wait!  First week of June."

CB Ernest Payton 6'4"  196  will not be making it in for the Spring Game.  He talked about moving to Columbia in June.

"I'm very excited,"  said Payton, who expressed confidence that he will qualify, following the completion of the present semester.
2011 safety Ian Simon won't be ablr to make it in for this weekend, but he's getting ready to move to Columbia in June.

"I'm very excited about (the move),"  said Simon.  "I can't even desrcribe to you how excited I am!"

OL Connor McGovern won't be able to make it in this weekend, but is excited in anticipation of his move to Columbia in June.

"I'm very excited about (coming to Missouri),"  said McGovern.  "I'm pumped!"

McGovern will actually be traveling to Texas to spend some time with another 2011 Tiger signee, Clarence Green. Green, who was at last years spring game, talked about why he will not be at the Black & Gold event.

"I have prom on Saturday, and Connor McGovern is coming down to visit my family and I." said Green.

Clarence said the two became good friends on their official visit to Missouri and have been in touch since.

" I'm not sure if we will be roommates at Missouri, but after becoming good friends on our visit to Mizzou we talked about it."

Clarence also told me that his rehab from an injury he sustained during his senior season has went well and he is lifting weights and running to get ready for his move to Columbia in June.

Spring(TX) cornerback signee David Johnson is another 2011 signee making the trip to see the spring game.

"Yes,sir! We will be leaving Friday around 10am and should be in Columbia about 3pm" said Johnson in a test message.

Canadian (TX) OT Taylor Chappell won't be able to attend because of an academic competition he has this weekend.

DT Sheldon Richardson may be at Missouri on Saturday.  He's finishing up some classwork while living in the St. Louis area, and plans to begin taking classes at Missouri in June.

TE signee Brandon Hannah will likely be there along with top 2013 prospect Brandon Minor who are good friends and teammates at Chaminade.

Allen(TX) OL Brad McNulty is arriving for the Black & Gold game and is bringing super talented 2012 RB and Allen teammate Jonathan Williams with him.

Williams tells me that the Tigers are his current leader and that he is looking forward to meeting the staff and seeing where he might fit with the program. If things are to his liking could a commitment be far behind?

2012 DT Ondre Pipkins  6'4"  322  5.0  KC (MO) Park Hill is scheduled to make it for Missouri's Spring Game.  He has picked up some new offers, including Michigan, Tennessee, Michigan State, and Iowa.

"I still like (Missouri),"  said Pipkins.  "I like the coaches there."

2012 LB Michael Scherer said that he may be in attendance on Saturday, mentioning a possible conflict with a track meet.  Scherer gave me a list of 5 schools in which he has interest, including Missouri, Iowa, Boston College, Stanford, and Michigan State.  Scherer would like to make a decision early this fall.

Parkway North LB Donavin Newsom is among the 2012 offers who has said he will be attending, along with commit Morgan Steward and Ritenour DT Ed Ray.

Edmond Ray informed me that USC will be visiting his school next Wednesday and could possibly be offering. He also informed me that Indiana, UCLA and Notre Dame have had recent contact with him.

Ray later told me that if he did not make the spring game that he would be visiting Missouri sometime in the coming weeks.

A couple of other Missouri prospects on the Tigers radar screen, Jehu Chesson and Brandon Sheperd, will not be able to attend the Tigers spring game. Chesson has prom and Sheperd will be out of town at a combine event.

A pair of 2012 DTs are taking unofficial visits to Missouri for this weekend, including DT J.J. Bynum College Station (TX)  and DT Donald Hopkins Lago Vista (TX).

Bynum, 6'3" 273 4.9, arrived in Columbia on Thursday evening and will be spending several days there checking things out. J.J. is also a power-lifter who squats 715lbs. He had 87 tackles and 13 sacks as a junior playing with Tigers signee Ernest Payton. He already holds offers from Houston, Wyoming and Rice. Hopkins, 6'2" 275 4.9 forty, had 45 tackles and 10 sacks from his nose tackle position at Lago Vista Leander (TX). He already has offers from SMU and Wyoming.

In other recruiting news and rumor:

It is starting to look like #1 QB in the 2012 class, Gunner Kiel, and #1 WR in the 2012, Dorial Green-Beckham, may wind up at the same school together. The short list of likely schools should that happen would be Missouri, Oklahoma or Alabama.

The two recently were at OU at the same time.

I have heard rumors that Kiel has been in contact with Mizzou a lot as of late.

Green-Beckham is also seriously considering Arkansas, a school which Kiel is not.

I hear that DGB is a fan of James Franklin as a person and a quarterback.

2013 QB Trent Hosick 6'2" 219 looks like the next Missouri QB who will be on the national stage for recruiting. Hosick was recently invited to the Elite 11 and nominated for the All-Madden team after break out performances at the Under Armour and Nike combines in Texas.

Hosick, who transferred from Ozark after his freshman year to Staley had to sit out last season. He has told me that he loves Missouri's offense and think he would be a good fit in it.

Trenton is heading to Oklahoma State's spring game along with recent Tiger offer Nathanael Lohn after being invited by the Cowboys.

I have written about 2014 OT Andy Bauer 6'5" 275 as being my top prospect in the 2014 class. An update regarding Andy who took recent visits to both Oregon and Miami.

The Miami visit reportedly went great. The Canes have pretty much indicated they  will give  him a verbal offer when they can.

Bauer is currently visiting Oregon as I write this. Mr. Bauer informs me that he's pretty much hearing from everybody questionnaire, camp
invites etc.

He is a player that will no doubt be high on the Tigers target list for the 2014 class.

A name to remember for 2015. Yes, I said 2015—which would be the incoming freshman class this fall—is 2015 QB Drew Lock 6'0" 190 He is a name to remember and keep an eye on this summer and beyond. Lock will be attending Lee's Summit(MO) high school and is a possible candidate to replace Tiger signee Corbin Berkstresser in coach Eric Thomas' high powered passing offense as a freshman.

Lock is also a standout basketball player who has made it on some national underclassmen lists for basketball as a G/F.

Drew is the son of former Missouri Tiger offensive lineman Andy Lock. The senior Lock played for the Tigers from 1986-89.

Speaking of basketball, new Tiger head coach Frank Haith and his new staff will have a strong group of prospects in the Missouri/Kansas/Illinois border area from the 2013 and 2014 classes to recruit.

Some of the top names include Raytown South F Ishmael Wainwright 6'6", Nolan Berry 6'8" F DeSmet, DeShawn Munson 6'3" G East St. Louis(IL), F Semi Olejeye 6'6" Ottawa (KS), Malcolm Hill 6'4" G Belleville (IL) East, Marcellus Lewis 5'11" PG Chaminade and Jordan Barnett 6'7" G/F CBC all have a chance to be top 100 national players in the 2013 class.
