The recruiting season has been heating up with spring as players have gotten out and made some unofficial visits to schools of interest.
Simon talked with ShowMeMizzou.com and told us of his plans to take an upcoming visit to Columbia (M0) and check out Mizzou, who are among his top schools he likes from among his 13 verbal offers.
"I was suppose to visit Mizzou last weekend," said Goines, "But it will probably be another 2 weeks before I do."
The massive, yet athletic lineman talked about the Missouri offer and his thoughts about the program.
"I got the offer from them at the end of last month. I was excited because it was my biggest offer to that point and they are a good program. I want to learn more about them and so I will be visiting there soon," said Goines.
While he may need to learn more about Mizzou, he is familiar with the state of Missouri and has family that still lives here.
"My Grandma live in Kansas City. All my cousins still live there, too. So, I know the area and it would be great to have family right there." Simon continued to tell about his father being from Kansas city and his knowledge of Mizzou. " My Dad grew up there and was recruited by Mizzou out of high school. He wound up playing football at Eastern Illinois."
Goines listed his current leaders at Missouri,Arkansas and Baylor, but he is looking for the right fit for himself personally.
"I can play anywhere. What I am looking for is a school with a good business school, and where I feel that I fit in with the team and coaches and feel comfortable."
Asked to describe his best attributes as a player, Goines did not hesitate.
"I play with a really nasty, almost angry attitude when I am blocking. I love to run block and finishing my blocks. I have quick feet and hands and use my size to my advantage."
The athletic Goines is currently playing AAU basketball which has made scheduling his visit to Missouri difficult this spring. He listed 5.03 in the forty, 4.75 shuttle time and 30" vertical jump at 290lbs as his most recent testing numbers.
ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to follow Simon Goines recruitment.
