Florida Lineman Has Tigers On Radar

Florida lineman talks to ShowmeMizzou.com about his Missouri offer, thoughts on the Tigers, and what is on the horizon for his recruitment

The Missouri Tigers have made some inroads into Florida in recent years and pulled a couple of recruits out of that state. It looks like they are back there again trying to land an interior offensive lineman.

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Seffner (FL) Armwood OG Cody Waldrop 6'4" 310lbs 5.1 forty, who has picked up an offer from the Tigers and is considering Missouri among a list of 5-6 teams at the moment for serious consideration in his recruitment.

"Missouri offered me a couple of weeks ago." said Waldrop. "I think it was around May 14th."

Waldrop saw the Tigers in action at least once last year and has established a relationship with a member of the coaching staff.

"I watched them beat Oklahoma on TV and that was pretty impressive. It was a good game to see. I also really like coach Henson who coaches the O-line for them. He is one of the coolest guys to and we have some interesting conversations. They would like to get me up there and play on the interior of the line for them at either guard or center.I'm definitely considering Missouri among my offers."

Waldrop holds around 17-18  offers that include the likes of LSU,Miami, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina,Oklahoma St., Tennessee, Texas Tech,Vanderbilt, Ole Miss,North Carolina State,Cincinnati and more along with his Mizzou offer.

While there was some thought that he might have narrowed things down to a short list, he informed me that there are about 5-6 schools he is seriously considering.

"I kinda did in the beginning have a couple schools I thought I would just check out and pick which was best for me, but as this has gone on things have changed. there are certain schools I am taking strong looks at. That would be South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, Tennessee and Vandy. I plan on taking trip to North and South Carolina and maybe Florida, they said they might offer if I came to camp. Basically the schools close enough to drive to. I would probably have to wait until my official visit to see Missouri, but I will have to sit down with my family and figure it out."

Waldrop, who plans to major in agriculture, loves to hunt and fish and said that distance would not be a factor in making his decision.

"What I am looking for is a school with good academics. I also want to have a good relationship with the coaching staff and a school that is the best fit for me. See how I fit in with the team and area that I will be living for the next 4-5 years."

Cody, who bench presses 425lbs, squats 575lbs and reps 225lbs 30 times, says that he strength is what he feels makes him a better player.

" I love to drive block. I don't take plays off and I love to drive a guy into the ground. My strength helps me do that. I love to run block, but I feel my pass blocking is just as good."

Waldrop doesn't have a timeline for making a decision.

"I was hoping to  make it before my senior season, but I will make it when I feel the things are right for me."
