One player who had previously indicated that his top two schools are "Oklahoma and Missouri" is OL John McGee 6'4" 257 Texarkana (TX) Texas. McGee recently confirmed that those are still his "top two".
McGee is a multi-sport athlete, who plays basketball, and throws for the track team. He's been playing left tackle, but projects on the inside in college, at center, or guard. McGee is rated by Scout.com as the #2 center in this recruiting class.
With Missouri gaining a commitment from Evan Boehm, and with Oklahoma gaining a commitment from Ty Darlington, ShowMeMizzou.com asked the big lineman from Texarkana what effect those commitments will have on his recruitment.
"(It doesn't effect me.) No, not at all, " said McGee. "I mean, I can't help whoever else they get, so I'm still going to play my game."
McGee confirmed that Missouri still wants him, and has room for him, in the aftermath of Boehm's commitment, but wasn't as sure about the impact of Darlington's commitment on the situation at Oklahoma.
"I don't know. I don't think so," McGee replied, when I asked him if Oklahoma was full at his position. Then he added, "They didn't tell me anything, really. So, I mean, I don't know."
McGee has already visited Oklahoma, and would like to visit Missouri this summer.
"I don't know. I'll have to see," began McGee. "I mean, I'll have to see. I'll probably try to go up (to Missouri) this summer. I don't know the date, exactly."
McGee confirmed that he's been in communication with Missouri commit Jonathan Williams. Then, he addressed my question regarding a time-table for his decision.
"I don't know," began McGee. "I mean, I was thinking this summer. And, I'm thinking mid-season, end-of-season. I don't know."
ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to follow John McGee's recruitment.
