Among the prospects observed at the Missouri Elite Camp was a talented young guard with an early interest in Missouri. ShowMeMizzou.com checked in with 2014 SG Darius Austin 6'6" 195 Cahokia (IL), who also plays for the Belleville-based Jets organization. Austin talked about the Missouri camp, and his interest in the Tigers.
"It was great! There was a lot of competition there," Austin said of the camp. "I played against Jordan Granger and Jordan Martin............................ The coaches were really on me during camp. They were telling me what I need to work on, and telling me when I wasn't doing something right. Overall, I think the camp was good. I like the campus.......................... It was fun. It was one of the best camps that I have attended."
Austin has been to look at Missouri before.
"Actually, that was like my third trip (to Missouri)," explained Austin. "During the Elite Camp, was my third time to visit Missouri...................... They're one of my top schools, right now."
Austin went on to list Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Michigan, Xavier, and Purdue among his top schools. He doesn't have any offers at present, but that will probably change before too long. He said that Missouri is "talking about" offering him.
"They want to see me play first," explained Austin.
Austin talked about his relationship with the Missouri staff.
"We have a good relationship," said Austin. "My mom went up there with me on a visit. She likes Mizzou. My mom wants me to go to Mizzou. She's like Coach Haith, in that they put school first, before basketball."
ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to follow Darius Austin's recruitment.
