Mullen's High Profile Tournament Report

Over 60 AAU basketball teams showed up at the Mullens High Profile basketball tournament this past weekend, including many Missouri Tiger targets, and was there to report on the event

The Mullens High Profile Team Tournament came to the St. Louis (MO) area over the weekend featuring 66 AAU teams from Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma,Nebraska, Arizona,Utah and Tennessee. was there to check out the basketball prospects being targeted by the Missouri Tiger basketball program that were participating.  Here is a report on those players.

Laimonas Chatkvevicius 7'0" C  MoKan Elite 2012- Laimonas did not disappoint in showcasing his skills and athleticism over the weekend. The Lithuanian transfer student is light on his feet around the hoop both offensively and on the defense end. He runs up and down the floor pretty well and can defend away from the basket like a smaller player using his feet. Closer to the basket he is able to block shots without leaving his feet using his long arms and timing to his advantage. On offense he plays equally well with his back to the basket in the low post or stepping out and being able to hit shots from 17-18 feet with a nice shooting stroke. Laimonas is still young, and despite being pretty well developed physically and showing good strength, has room to get bigger, stronger and improve his skills even more. He is already a high major prospect, but after a year in prep school against good competition, Chatkvevicius should be even better. The Tigers jumped on him first with an offer and hopefully will be in the mix when it comes time to sign. I have a video interview coming with him soon.

Willie Cauley 6'11" C/F MoKan Elite 2012- Cauley looks more physically developed then ever and appears to have grown to close to 7-feet himself. Willie is very athletic, gets up and down the court quickly and rebounds and defends well. He is at his best in an up tempo game and on the offensive glass using his athleticism often for nice put back dunks. As he continues to develop his offensive game he will become an even more valuable prospect. Cauley has a Tiger offer.

Semi Ojeleye 6'6" 210 F MoKan Elite 2012- Semi looks like an older player then just heading into his junior year.  He is a solid, strong frontcourt player who can play both down low and on the wing. This past weekend he did his best work from mid-range in being strong on the glass and using his strength. He is continuing to develop his outside shot and when he does he will be even tough for opponents to defend. One of the local 2013 prospects with a Missouri offer.

Clayton Custer 6'0" PG MoKan Elite 2014- Remember this name as you will be hearing a lot of it over the next 3 years on the high school level. The talented point guard started on his high school team as a freshman and had a good first year is showcasing his skills with the MoKan Elite as their starting point. Clayton plays like a seasoned vet leading his team on offense with a great handle and smooth passing skills. He also isn't shy to take people off the dribble and drive and score. He can also shoot the ball pretty well and seems fearless going against the older players being very physical. Custer looks like he has the makings of a major college prospects and should draw interest from the Tigers by this time next year.

Ryan Rosburg 6'10" 250 C/PF St. Louis Gateway Basketball 2012 – Ryan had a very good tournament. I got to see him help his team beat KC Pump N Run in a good game. Rosburg is a true inside/out player that works hard on both ends of the court. He gets good position on the blocks and can use his strength to muscle shots or draw fouls, but he also has good footwork and moves around the hoop to score. Ryan can also step out and has a sweet shot to about 17 feet which he was able to hit. He as strong rebounder and runs the court well. He would provide the Tigers a nice nigh/low option in the new Tiger offense.

Cameron Biedscheid 6'7" F St. Louis Eagles 2012 –Cameron looks like he continues to grow taller. He had a nice tournament averaging close to 20 points per game as the top 2012 prospect on his squad. He also looks a little stronger and was solid slashing to the basket and when he was on had a nice mid-range and deep shot. I saw him play against Ish Wainright twice and he did very well. Cameron is committed to Notre Dame but told me that Missouri has shown him a lot of interest since Frank Haith has arrived.

Ishmail Wainright 6'5" F Kansas City 76ers 2013- It's hard to believe that Ish just completed his sophomore year in high school with his physical development. He has shoulders on him that say football player and to be honest with you, I think he could have a bright future as a Tight End on the gridiron if he ever chose to play that sport. Back to basketball, Ishmail is a total team player. He is of a pass first, get your teammates involved mindset. He also does all the little things and dirty work need to help his team win such as play defense against other teams big men or defend on the wing against the other teams best scorer. He rebounds, plays defense, can handle the ball and is a very good passer who sees the court and the open man well. He also slashes to the hoop and uses his strength around the basket to score or draw fouls. He is continuing to work on and develop his outside shot, and when he does he will be extremely dangerous and a complete player. He de-committed from Missouri and is looking at several schools including Texas,UCLA, Kentucky and St. John's, but Missouri is right there in the mix still and I would not be surprised to see him re-up with the Tigers in the end.

Nolan Berry 6'8" F St. Louis Eagles 2013- Nolan is one of the smoothest players you will see on the court. Not a lot of wasted motion and can lull you into a sense that he isn't as athletic as he is, and then bam, he does his thing. He is another big man that has the high/low skills that will fit the new system the Tigers will be playing. Nolan has really good feet and a wide array of skills both close to and away from the basket offensively. He can shoot, drive, play with his back to the basket and use a variety of moves to score. He also is a better then average defender. He also runs the court well and is an excellent passer. He recently picked up a Tiger offer and I think Missouri is in a good position with the longtime Tiger fan.

Deshawn Munson 6'3" G St. Louis Eagles 2013- Munson teams with Berry on the Eagles 16's and is an explosive, slashing guard that can really get up in the air on dunks. He is fast and very athletic, rebounds well and looked solid on defense. He says he is getting recruited by Missouri but does not have an offer.

Connor Frankamp 6'3" G Kansas City Pump N Run 2013- Connor was fresh off his big performance as part of the USA national team where he excelled. Frankamp is a really nice combo guard who played the shooting guard for the most part. He has one of the best outside shots that you will find and can be deadly from three when he is on. He is also pretty solid athletically and can take people off the dribble to the hoop. Good handle and very good passer that sees the floor and gets his teammates involved. He told me that he likes Missouri but does not have an offer from them yet. I have a video interview with him coming soon.

Others who caught my eye:

Dominique Collier 6'2 G Kansas City Pump N Run 2014 –Dom was also on the same national team as Frankamp and made a name for himself there as Connor did. The Denver product is a good looking young athlete who can handle the ball, gets up and down the court and can score.

Tory Miller 6'8" 230 PF Kansas Pump N Run 2013- Young big man from Lee's Summit North high school has good size, strength and has a lot of potential as he develops. Fought hard in the low post against Rosburg. He rebounds and plays defense well and looked good on the offensive glass with put backs. He still needs to develop some more offensive skills, but is a player to keep an eye on.

Travis Jorgenson 5'11" PG Kansas City Pump N Run 2013- Young PG with good handles and passes the ball well. Also showed some nice offensive moves and can shoot the ball from three.

Jordan Martin 6'6" F St. Louis Eagles 2013- Very athletic forward who runs the court well, rebounds well, plays defense and can score well in transition.

Players not on the Missouri radar who deserve mention:

Benjamin Parker 5'10" PG Kansas City 76ers, Broderick Newbill 6'5" F Kansas City  76ers, Tony Cochran 5'10" PG St. Louis Gateway, Willie Wiley 6'7" F St. Louis Eagles, Cory Arentsen 6'4" G/F St. Louis Eagles, Chris Wallace 6'8" Missouri-Illinois Select
