Goines Makes It Two For Tuesday

The Missouri Tigers pick up their second commitment of the day hours apart as recent visitor Simon Goines becomes the second recruit to make the pledge for Mizzou in what should be called Tiger Tuesday.

Texas OT Simon Goines spoke to ShowMeMizzou.com earlier in the day about his unofficial visit on Monday in such glowing terms that you would have thought he had committed to the Tigers. Well, that has become the case as Voines contacted ShowMeMizzou.com moments ago with an update.

"I committed to Missouri just a few minutes ago,"said Goines. "I just got off the phone with the coaches and they were pretty excited. I heard them whoop and yell."

Goines was also excited to become a Tiger. I asked him about why he choose Missouri and why the hold up til today instead if yesterday while on his unofficial?

"I had to talk things over with my parents first before I commited. I knew I wanted to be a Tiger. It's just the best place for me. The coaches, the players and the academics.

Simon said he now wanted to turn his focus to bringing some new friends with him to Mizzou

"I am going to try and get Aaron Curry from Texas and Ondre Pipkins from Kansas City to join me."

Simon also talked about being allowed by the football staff to play basketball on Frank Haith's squad when he arrives.

The coaches have said that I can play basketball, but that I need to leep my grades in order and focus on football first before that can happen.

Goines becomes the Tigers 14th known commitment and second of the day.
