Missouri Visit On Tap For Monday

The Missouri Tigers have had good luck with a recent string of unofficial visitors over the past few weeks. On Monday one of their top remaining targets comes to town and ShowMeMizzou.com has the very latest with his recruitment.

The state of Missouri is producing some high quality football products for the class of 2012. Without a doubt the strongest position out of the talented Show-Me state class is at the receiver spot.

Besides having possibly the top wide receiver in 2012 coming from Missouri this year, there is the possibility that as many 6 or 7 receivers will sign with D1 schools in February.

One of those receivers, and one of the top 10 prospects in the state after a strong spring and summer, is  St. Louis (MO)Parkway Central WR Brandon Sheperd 6'2" 190.

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Sheperd recently to get an update on where his recruitment is at and find out the latest as to when a possible decision may happen.

"I am taking an unofficial visit to Missouri on Monday, and then I will be taking an unofficial visit to Oklahoma State on July 31st," said Sheperd. "Those are the schools I am really focusing my on with my recruitment."

Brandon has double digit offers and had narrowed his list to schools like Michigan State, Iowa and Indiana along with Missouri and Oklahoma State. Now it looks to be shaping up to be a two team race.

"I have always liked Mizzou and I am going up there to check them out again. I like Coach Pinkel and Coach Ford a lot and it's the home school. I also want to go down to Oklahoma State and see what that is like down there before I make a decision,"he said.

Is there a chance that a commitment could come on one of these visits?

"There is a possibility, but I think I will check things out and then talk it over with my family and some people close to me. I had thought about maybe waiting until sometime during the season, but I might be making a decision before my season now," said Sheperd.

Brandon is one of the hardest working prospects in the 2012 class and has continued to impress coaches with his receiver skills. He was part of a St. Louis Rams sponsored 7 on 7 team that competed against other NFL sponsored teams in Ohio earlier this month. He turned heads with his athleticism, clutch pass catching and ability to make big plays, including a one-handed grab for a touchdown that had everyone, including coaches in attendance asking, "who is that guy?"

"The 7 on 7 team that I went to Ohio with was great. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life,"he said. "I don't like to talk about myself, but that catch was pretty special."

ShowMeMizzou.com will follow-up on Brandon Sheperd's unofficial visits and his recruitment until a decision is made.
