The Missouri Tigers have targeted a small number of receivers for their 2012 recruiting class. Assistant Coach Andy Hill has been talking to 2012 WR Austin Aikens 6'1" 180 4.52 Tampa (FL) Plant. Recently, ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Aikens, and he talked about his interest in Missouri, and his recruitment.
Aikens and his parents have planned a tour of unofficial visits next week, including visits to Vanderbilt on August 2nd, Missouri on Wednesday, August 3rd, Iowa on August 4th, Cincinnati on August 5th, and Western Kentucky on August 6th.
Aikens said that he's "pretty excited" about getting to see these schools in person.
Aikens is a precise route-runner, with good hands and receiving skills, who reports a 42" vertical, and a 4.09 second 20-yard shuttle. He also reported averaging 22.4 yards/catch from the Z WR position, in an offense that he described as "the same offense" as Missouri. He also returns kicks for Plant.
Aikens said that Missouri projects him on the outside, or in the slot.
"Missouri's a school that I would consider going to," said Aikens. "They throw the ball all over. I really like that, because I'm a receiver. I just want to go there and see the campus for myself, so that I can get a feel for it."
Aikens is planning to wait until season's end to make a decision.
