Resonno Ready For Physical Battle In Trenches

Missouri senior defensive tackle Terrell Resonno shares his thoughts on what he expects from tonights game as the Tigers open their conference season on the road against Oklahoma.

One of the strengths of the Missouri Tigers this season is their defensive line, including the productive play of senior DT Terrell Resonno. Earlier this week, ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Resonno, and he talked about this week's game at Oklahoma.

"I thought we played very well (last week), especially on the defensive side," began Resonno. "We put up a goose egg…………………………………………. Oklahoma is a very good team. They're a balanced team. If you don't get a lot of pressure on Landry (Jones), he's going to have a field day. So, our goal as a defensive line is just to over-prepare, and watch a lot of film, and know what their weakness and their strengths are, so we can flush him out of the pocket. I just hope we can create more turnovers, also. It's just going to be a great game."

"It's going to be tough," continued Resonno. "They're a tough team. They're a balanced team, like I said. They like to super-fast you a lot, try to catch the defense off guard…………………………………………. It's going to be fun. I'm very excited to see what comes on Saturday."

I asked Resonno if he feels that the Missouri defense is well-prepared to handle the super-fast tempo?

"We've seen it a lot," replied Resonno. "Our offense does it, also. We're a well-conditioned football team. And so, it's going to be fun."

Resonno said that it will help to have senior DE Jacquies Smith back in the line-up. I asked Resonno what he knows about Oklahoma's offensive line.

"They're a very physical group," said Resonno, describing Oklahoma's offensive line. "Very physical!  They're smart. They'll try to beat you down into the dirt. So, it's going to be very physical in the trenches. So, it's going to be a lot of battles this week, a battle in the trenches. It's going to be a lot of fun!"

I asked Resonno if he likes the physical battle in the trenches?

"Oh yeah! You have to," exclaimed Resonno. "If you're a defensive lineman, you're going to have to like the trenches! You can't hold back! It's just going to be fun."

Resonno said that he knows that Oklahoma will be fired up for this game.

"I know they circled us, when the schedule came out," said Resonno. "I know they want us bad………………………………………… I know they're ready for us………………………………………….. They've got us circled? We've got them circled, too! It is what it is. You know, they've got a very good team. It's football!  So, we don't listen to all of that. We'll just play Missouri football."

Resonno talked about what he'll try to convey to his teammates this week.

"Especially on game day, we've got to take it one play at a time," said Resonno. "Everybody's got to be accountable. Everybody's got to take their responsibility to do their assignment…………………………………………………. If we do our responsibility, everything will take care of itself."
