On Monday night (6:30 P.M., ESPN2) the #24 Missouri Tigers (3-0) take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish  (4-0) at the Sprint Center in Kansas City in the semifinal round of the CBE Classic.  The other semifinal features the California Golden Bears and the Georgia Bulldogs.  The final rounds will be played on Tuesday night.

For Missouri, this is a serious step up in competition from their first three opponents, and will serve as an early measuring stick for Coach Haith and company.

Notre Dame comes in off of a busy first week that saw the Fighting Irish post wins over four non-conference opponents, including a 93-69 win over Delaware State on Friday.  Interestingly, by the time that Notre Dame reaches Kansas City, pre-season All-American candidate Tim Abromaitis will have served the four-game suspension imposed by the NCAA, and he will be eligible just in time for the fifth-year forward to play against Missouri.   Abromaitis, who last season averaged 15.4 points/game and 6.1 rebounds/game, has shot 42% from behind the 3-PT line for his career.   Coach Mike Brey, in his twelfth season at Notre Dame, is also expected to have his starting point guard, Eric Atkins, back in the line-up after missing two games due to illness.

Brey has some quality depth to bring in off of the bench, including sophomore G Alex Dragicevich  6'7"  221  (8.5 ppg, 3.0 rpg), and freshman G  Pat Connaughton  6'5" 206  (11.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg).

Both teams have been shooting the ball very well from deep.  Missouri has five players averaging in double figures in scoring, led by Marcus Denmon's 18 points/game.  And as usual, the Tigers will be facing a team with a decided height advantage.
