The Missouri Tigers have done a nice job of targeting positions of need for the most part for their 2012 recruiting class. However, one position of need that they are continuing to search for is at Tight End.
It appears that one possible prospect that could fill that spot has been identified as Largo (FL) Indian Rocks TE Sean Culkin 6'5" 220, 4.67 forty, who has risen on the recruiting scene with an outstanding senior season, in which he has caught over 50 passes for 989 yards and 18 touchdowns while averaging almost 19 yards per catch.
ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Culkin about the mutual interest between himself and the Tigers.
"I just started talking to Missouri last week. Maybe last Wednesday," said Culkin. "I am being recruited by Coach Jones, who I believe is their running backs coach. It's only been a couple of days, but it it's pretty exciting."
Since then, Culkin has been doing research on Missouri and is planning an official visit in early December.
" I wasn't very familiar with Mizzou, so I have been finding out as much as I can and doing research, and I like what I know so far based on what I have found out. I like their offense and how they have utilized their tight ends in it. They are a good school and a winning program. I really like that they will be in the SEC and will play great competition . That means a lot to me," said Culkin.
And where would he place the Tigers among his schools right now?
"I wouldn't say they are the top school since they are new and I will know more as time goes on and after my official visit there, but they are at the top among schools I am considering. "
Culkin, who has an offer from Iowa State and has already visited is excited about a Missouri offer and is hearing from schools such as Maryland, Cincinnati, Florida and Southern Florida as of late along with several other schools.
"The same day that I heard from Missouri a bunch of schools contacted. Right now all I have to compare things with is Iowa State. I will go on my visit to Missouri. Maryland and Cincinnati are trying to get me to visit and I may want to visit those schools. UCF and USF are other schools I have been to on unofficial visits,"said Culkin.
