Lately, he's played very well almost all of the time. Hairston is coming into his own as a prospect. His stellar play this spring has him rocketing up recruiting lists, firmly entrenched in the Top 25.
So, Hairston's achieving goals, right? "I haven't yet because we haven't won a tournament yet. The individual stuff is good but until we win, I'm not satisfied at all."
His school list reads Ohio State, Kansas, UCLA, Kentucky and Missouri. "Arizona and Indiana have contacted me. So has North Carolina State and Virginia Tech."
Hairston can't take an official visit, per NCAA rules, until he takes the standardized test. He's scheduled to take the ACT on June 14. Still, even after taking test he'll take his time and won't be pressured, at least to a point.
"I don't feel any pressure [to decide]. I still want to take my time." But, Hairston won't miss an opportunity to go the school of his choice either. It's just that right now, he doesn't have any idea of where he wants to go.
One thing is certain; he's going to make an official visit to UCLA. Sound strange for a Midwest kid? Why visit UCLA, right? It's L.A.!" Hairston said.
Well, there are four more visits to haggle over among a select group of schools that seems to be growing in popularity.
