Steward Talks About Great Opportunity

Missouri Tiger 2012 running back commit Morgan Steward talks about his recent Missouri official visit, his new friendship with James Franklin and what opportunies might be in his future as a true Tiger freshman.

Another Missouri commit who made his official visit this past weekend was Kansas City (MO) Staley standout RB Morgan Steward 6'0" 196lbs.

Steward had a terrific season rushing for over 2,000 yards and scoring 29 touchdowns to help lead his team to the Class 5 State Championship and earn Co-Offensive Player of the Year in that class among his many post-season honors. spoke with Morgan about the highlights of his official visit this past weekend.

"To be honest, the highlights were the all the great food they served, I love to eat, and hanging out with James Franklin, who was my host for the weekend. James and I really hit it off and it will be great to have a friend like him at Missouri," said Steward.

Morgan had been to Missouri before and has become familiar with the school and facilities over time. He seemed to appreciate getting to know Franklin and the Tiger coaches most of all.

"James is a real cool guy. We have a lot in common. We like movies and video games and he answered a lot of questions I had about college life and what it was like. I also enjoyed meeting Maty Mauk and Ryan Jackson, who was there on a visit, along with T.J. Moe and Corbin Berstresser. It was also great seeing practice and getting to spend some time with Coach Jones who will be my position coach, and I really liked Coach Ivey as well. He told me I better be prepared to work. So, I am really looking forward to that."

I asked Morgan about the coaches talking to him about where they see him possibly fitting in as a true freshman when he arrives.

"Yes,sir. The coaches and I talked and they said that the opportunity would be there if I worked hard and came in prepared to possibly see the field as a freshman. I know that a great opportunity is there for me and that I will work my hardest to be able to help the team any way I can," he said.

Morgan told me that he hasn't really talked to any other potential Missouri recruits, but that there was one prospect that he was going to be trying to get in touch with soon.

"I haven't really followed recruiting too much, but I do plan on talking with Evan Boehm soon. It would be great to be able to have Evan at Missouri with me. I know what it was like playing against him and you definitely want him on your team," said Steward.

Morgan said that he will be arriving at Missouri in June of 2012.
