With National signing day being only 19 days away, the window for lining up new prospects to target is closing quickly. The Missouri Tigers have a few spots open, and are waiting on a handful of prospects still considering them. However, several possible commits are still looking, and so apparently are the Tigers in case they feel the need to add a recruit in the mix here at the end.
ShowMeMizzou.com has identified one such prospect who may be in line for a possible offer and could be visiting Missouri in the near future.
Dallas (TX) Wilmer-Hutchins cornerback Damien Lawry 6'0" 175 4.4 forty confirmed to us about his contact with Missouri and talk about possibly fitting into their plans.
"Yes,sir. I have talked with Missouri about possibly coming up there for an official visit"," said Lawry. " I'm not sure, but if I do it would probably be on the weekend of January 20th. I am visiting Iowa State this weekend, and Arizona State says that they want me to come in for a visit on the 20th. So, I would have to decide which school I would want to visit."
I asked Lawry, who played QB for his team, about the level of interest he was receiving from the Tigers?
"I have been talking to Coach Walker probably around a month or so, he is the coach recruiting me from Missouri. He said that I would probably have an offer before my official visit to Iowa State, but I don't know that that will happen. He said Missouri wants me as a defensive back—to play cornerback. We talked about me taking that visit there on the 20th," said Lawry.
Lawry did not know a lot abut Missouri, except that he grew up around one of it's senior defensive lineman.
"I really don't know much. I know Missouri is a good school and will be playing in the SEC and that would be a good fit. I am still learning more about them. The thing I know most is that I use to live across the street from Jacquies Smith when I was younger. He lived across from my Grandmother, so we kind of knew each other for awhile."
Lawry may have a decision to make after his Iowa State visit regarding what school to visit next.
Arizona State is the newest player in his recruitment.
"I started hearing from Arizona State about three weeks ago. They came on the scene right after their new coaches came in. They said they want me to visit on January 20th and that I will receive an offer when I visit," said Lawry.
When asked about the things he would be looking for in a school to help him make his final decision, Lawry listed his main criteria.
"I will be looking at atmosphere. Seeing if I can live there for 4-5 years. A place with good people. A place were you feel like family,"he said.
Damien Lawry has no timetable for when a possible decision could be coming.
He described himself as a true cover corner with good speed and ball skills, that can play man or zone equally well.
ShowMeMizzou.com will continue to keep you updated on his recruitment in regards to Mizzou.
