Manley: "I've Always Liked Missouri"

Yesterday, we reported on the possible offer and palnned official visit from Georgia defensive lineman Josh Manley. We spoke to Josh and he clears up when an official visit may come and talks about his thoughts on the Missouri program.

Yesterday on ShowMeMizzou.com it was reported that Alpharetta (GA) Milton DT prospect Josh Manley 6'3" 248 (4.8 forty) had received an offer from Missouri and would be visiting the Tigers either this weekend or next.

We caught up with Manley to find out  where is interest level in the Tigers was at, and to try and nail down when a possible visit would happen.

"I have always liked Missouri, always had an interest in Missouri for some reason," said Manley. "I don't exactly know why, but I have followed them and paid attention to the program. They started recruiting me in my junior year, but things didn't serious until the past couple of months and now I they say that they will be offering me and want me to take a visit there. I was suppose to visit this weekend, but they need a copy of my transcripts, so that will push my visit back until the 27th. Coach Grinch and Coach Kulagowski will be at my school in the morning and the offer and visit will become more clear."

Manley, who also played WR and TE in the first 3 games of his senior year before injuries to his team's defensive line make him too valuable to use on both sides of the ball, has really done his homework on the Tigers and had an impressive list of things he knew and liked about the Tigers.

"Academics are very important to me and I know that they have one of the best business schools in the country and the best journalism school in the country, both areas of interest I would like to study. They also have a great computer science program, something else I am interested in possibly majoring in, and are leading the way in developing apps for Android systems. They are either first or second in the Big 12 with graduation rates, and they graduate their football players. Football wise, they have a good history of winning, a stable coaching staff and have been to 8 straight bowl games."

Manley also has an in with how things are on campus due to a friend he went to high school with that attends Missouri.

"I am friends with someone from my high school who was a year ahead of me who goes to Mizzou. They told me how much I would like it and how down to earth everyone is and how much I would like the atmosphere and people,"said Manley.

I had Josh go over the criteria he may have to help him decide what school he may want to attend.

"The school itself. The academic side, the football program. I want there to be a closeness, but to be far enough away from home to truly be on my own. Missouri has a lot of that since it is only 4 hours away from my home, and they will be playing on the road two hours away in any direction in the SEC East. The more I think about it the more exciting it is to think about playing in the SEC. It's the best conference in the country. That's a big plus!," said Manley.

While he is still considered a Syracuse commit, Manley, who led his team in sacks, said that besides the Tigers, he is looking at and will try and squeeze in a visit to Louisville and possible UCLA who is also in he picture.

"I will see if I can fit any more visit in there. Probably to Louisville either this weekend or during the week. Not sure about UCLA, and then Missouri on the 27th."

And when might a decision be coming?

"Possibly on signing day. Maybe before if I know for sure where I want to go after my visits."

ShowMeMizzou.com will keep you updated with the recruitment of Josh Manley.
