Tigers Are On Three-Star Defender's Radar

The Missouri Tigers have been searching their new SEC territoy for some quality defensive lineman as of late, and they appear to have caught the attention of another quality prospect as signing day closes in.

The Missouri Tigers have entered into the recruitment of  2012  defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins  6'3"  255  4.58  Covington (GA)  Eastside.

Rankins informed ShowMeMizzou.com that he's recently been contacted by Missouri, and that he does have interest in the newest member of the SEC.  Rankins said that he expects to speak to the Missouri staff early next week.

This weekend, Rankins will be taking an official visit to Wake Forest.  He's previously visited Louisville.  He said that he was set to choose between Wake Forest and Louisville, but that he thinks that he'd like to more closely examine Missouri as an option.

"It is a little late in the recruiting process,"  explained Rankins.   "But, I would be open to (Missouri)."

Rankins, who reports a 35" vertical jump, also plays basketball and runs track.  He said that a Missouri offer may be on the way, and that he'd like to know more about Missouri.

"Football-wise, I know (Missouri's) a great program,"  said Rankins.   "They've had multiple winning seasons in recent years.  They're producing great players, you know, Aldon Smith, guys like that.  And, they just moved to the SEC, so they're going to be playing the best of the best.  It seems like a good situation."

With a final two of Louisville and Wake Forest, Rankins thought that his recruitment was about to come to a close.  Now, it appears Missouri may provide an attractive third option for the talented student-athlete to consider.
