Onuoha Thinking Things Over After Visit

Oklahoma Defensive End/Tight End Mike Onuoha opens up to ShowMeMizzou.com about his weekend official visit to Missouri and what may happen next with his recruitment coming down to the wire. Find out the latest.

Another of the Missouri official visitors on campus this past weekend was Edmond (OK) Santa Fe DE/TE Mike Onuoha 6'7" 230 4.6 forty. Onuoha has had a Missouri offer and was pretty certain that Missouri was going to be his final destination until Oklahoma came in late with an offer.

ShowMeMizzou.com caught up with Onuoha after his Missouri trip to see where things were at with his recruitment after his official visit.

"It was a great time," said Onuoha. " I arrived on Friday and had dinner and met up with everyone. We got to see everything on campus and see the school, the academic side, the facilities and really got to know the coaches, players and all there is to know about Mizzou. I fell in love with everything I saw."

Mike met up with an old friend on his visit.

Randy Ponder was my host on the visit. We have been friends for awhile. He went to Santa Fe. I also hung out with Xavier Smith who I know. I also got to know some of the other recruits on visits pretty well. Damien Lawry, who really liked it and is thinking things over like me, and Levi Copelin, who is from Oklahoma too. That was a lot of fun."

So, where do things stand with Missouri after the visit?

"I would say that Missouri is winning at the moment. Right now I am really high on Mizzou. I really enjoyed my visit and I am having to think things over about what I want to do. Coach Pinkel and Coach Henson will be at my house on Tuesday,"said Onuoha.

Mike has an official visit scheduled to Oklahoma this coming weekend. I asked if he was still planning on taking it.

"Right now I don't know. I will have to think about it."

Onuoha told me that he would play defensive end at Missouri, but that tight end would not be totally out of the question if for some reason the defensive side of the ball didn't work out.

However, Onuoha thinks things will more then work out for him at defensive end. He hesitated using the comparison, but told me that many people see a similarity to him and a former Tiger DE who is currently having great success as a rookie in the NFL.

"I hear people talk about me being like Aldon Smith with our physical similarities and athleticism. Similar height and size coming out of high school. Same arm length. It's a real compliment. I would love to be able to follow what he did and could obviously learn a lot at Missouri."

ShowMeMizzou.com will keep you updated on Mike Onuoha's recruitment. Something could happen on Tuesday or shortly there after.
