On Monday, ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Amos P. Godby Head Coach, Ronnie Cottrell, and he confirmed that Hollifield "is on Missouri's campus right now".
Coach Cottrell went on to explain that Hollifield had been committed to Miami (FL) since last summer, but that he "had second thoughts" when it came time to sign with the ‘Canes.
Coach Cottrell had a lot of good things to say about Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel, and about Missouri Assistant Coach Josh Henson, who has been the primary recruiter on Hollifield.
"He has an extremely good relationship with Coach Henson, and he really admires Coach Pinkel," said Coach Cottrell, speaking of Brandon Hollifield. "So, he contacted Missouri and arranged a visit…………………………………….. He loves Coach Henson. Coach Henson did a great job!"
Hollifield visited Miami the last weekend in January, and then had second thoughts about signing. He had a change of heart, and didn't sign.
"Missouri had done a tremendous job of recruiting him," said Coach Cottrell, speaking of Hollifield. "I think that Missouri's move to the SEC had a lot to do with (Hollifield's renewed interest in Missouri)…………………………………. I think Missouri's a tremendous fit for the SEC. They're going to be a tremendous addition to this conference."
Hollifield has only played one year of football.
"Brandon (Hollifield) is a seven-foot high jumper," continued Coach Cottrell. "He's starts on the basketball team. He's a tremendous athlete! He wants to be a wide receiver, and he would like to participate in track."
"Missouri is recruiting at a very high level right now," explained Coach Cottrell. "Missouri is going to get more of our kids here. There's no doubt. Coach Henson does a great job, and with Missouri playing in the SEC."
